Overall it is a great school. Really cute and the style of teaching makes sense. I wish it would have worked out, it just was not compatible with my son who was diagnosed with autism, ADHD, Anxiety, and sensory processing disorder months after I unenrolled him from this school. If your child has these disabilities, just be cautious. I have found out that my son needs nearly constant adult attention and this school very much leans more towards independence in a more self taught way which is just not how the autistic mind works.

Fred is fantastic. My son and I came at a rough time and he took care in our situation to come talk to me. He’s genuine and a good guy. Him and kelly did a great job of creating nice vibes and happy kids from what I saw outside of my son and his trials.

Sometimes I got weird vibes from a couple assistant teachers when I’d pick him up, maybe I’m just paranoid or maybe it was really judgments on my son. I did address it and got reassurance that they dont judge but I’m still unsure as to what that was about. Seemed like they were avoiding me a bit when I’d want to hear about my son.

Overall I had to have some pretty uncomfortable and unfortunate experiences here due to a few things including a lack of understanding of my son both on my part and theirs, but it led to a diagnosis. If their was more training on recognizing neuro-diversity that would be a cherry on top of a good school. I’d recommend this school for a neurotypical child in a heartbeat.

I enrolled my daughter at Albemarle Montessori just a month after it opened in August of 2014. We have had the privilege to watch it grow from just 5 students to now over 50 students, 3 classrooms, and an elementary school expansion that just opened in August of 2018! My daughter was 2 years old when she started and just graduated their Kindergarten program last spring. She is both reading and writing in cursive & print, doing addition, subtraction, and multiplication, can count to 10,000 and has an extensive grasp on geography and practical life fundamentals. I have worked in education for over 15 years (in both public & private schools) and I have never seen such a captivating and inspiring classroom environment as I have here at Albemarle Montessori! She experienced the honor of learning under Kelly Harding, who is an AMI Certified Lead Montessori Guide with over 30 years of experience and we could not be happier with her education and development. She she is currently enrolled in the elementary program and is loving it! There is no comparison, THIS is by far the BEST school in Charlottesville that anyone could hope for their child’s education & development. Thank you AMCC for being not just an institution of learning, but a Community that we think of as family, and a heartfelt place we call “home.” ?
