Very disappointed, i went for a tour today for K and all the questions like “do they have field trips?” “Can they have a water bottle in side the classroom?” “Do they have activities during the school year?” Where considered more valid than My question that was “what is their way to manage bullying in the school”. The guide said ” Bullying in kindergarten?” Like its not posible…. that only show how ignorant the school and the staff are in that field. Every school, educational center, daycare, etc…MOST have a plan, steps to follow and also all their school staff MOST be prepared for a case like bullying and to respond this type of cuestion, considering the mental crisis this country is going through. They made me feel that my child is unsafe with them. A plan agaist bullying its as important as an emergency evacuation plan for fire, earthquake or terrorism. No body saids “an evacuation plan for earthquake in miami?” An yet most place have or ” an evacuation plan for a fire in a elementary school? But kids in 5 6 or 7 grade don’t smoke or play with fire?” But yet most places have their evacuation plan. Maybe they do have a plan or step to follow in a situation like bullying, but for the answer I got from the guide they dont have the staff prepared for a situation like this or to answer correctly to a question like this. To the school… Kindergarten is the first step for a Kid to start finding their place in this society in the world. Its part of their start of their formation as a man or a woman. Its essential to understand that anything that hurt them at this age will follow them for the rest of their life. Psychological and emotional health are as important as physical health. Every teacher and staff needs to be prepared and educated in psicological, mental and emotional health. If not this crisis will never end.
I do not recommend this school at all. Kids are treated like prisoners. They aren’t allowed to leave school or leave early without being scanned by teachers, there are cameras all over the place and teacher do not treat students with respect nor help them. The line for parent pick up is huge and if a parent does not have there own barcode card they cannot pick up their kids. Students should not be treated like prisoners, no matter how old they are they should be respected and helped with their education. There is no miami-Dade county public school law that say that children should have a barcode stuck to their book bag at all time and if they do not have it then they cannot leave. This is not how kids should experience their childhood education. They should feel respected, loved and helped while they are still at that young age. Do not let your children be treated like prisoners.
