We’ve been a part of this wonderful, loving community for over 13 years. Our children have thrived here. The faculty are skilled and dedicated educators who pour a great deal of time, effort, care, and thought into their work with their students and communication with parents. The staff are friendly and customer-service oriented. In our family’s experience, our children and my spouse and I, have felt supported, safe, engaged, challenged, and perhaps most importantly, valued. The campus is not only beautiful, but it also serves as an important resource for academics – science in particular. The Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship, are woven into everyday life and will definitely ground our children as they move into and throughout adulthood. SSFS has been a gift to our family.
I was also a student who started in the late 70s. My experience was very different from Sarah Mahaney (I don’t think we knew each other). SSFS helped me develop confidence and a strong sense of myself as a learner. There were drugs and alcohol everywhere back then. All schools have had to adapt at responding to chemical use in our society. As an educator, I think SSFS is doing this in a responsible, respectful, and comprehensive way. My daughter is now a student in the upper school and I am so grateful for the care, support, and challenge she is receiving. No school is the right match for everyone, yet SSFS is doing a great job of enriching the lives of my family and many, many others.
