Early education is available for children turning 3 or 4 years old during the calendar year. Preschool is part of the NYC Department of Education (DOE), which provides free full-time education during the school hours. Astoria Lutheran does provide extended day options for a charge.
The school itself is a smaller community, which really does have an initiate feel serving the kids from Pre-K3-8th grade. The Principal knows all the kids names and the parents often converse with the other parents during drop-offs and pick-ups.
The private school fees start in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The classes are small and I feel my child does get a lot of attention from the teachers. They do go outside and enjoy the garden and playground.
