I am an alumni as well as have a student enrolled there currently. I am very thankful for the opportunities that a private school so focused on music and drama has afforded my daughter. She came from one of the largest public schools in the area and it is great to see her to be able to excel at LMS in these areas, where she would have had 4 times the competition at a public school. I also appreciate the spiritual and moral climate of this school. No school is perfect, and kids can find trouble if they look for it. However, I will say from going here myself as a high school student, and having a child that has transferred here from a public school, it is very encouraging as a parent to see an environment where there isn’t so much rampant drug use and promiscuity as there is in our local public school district. For the most part, parents of students that go to LMS care deeply about their behavior and living a life that is respectful to Christ, and that makes a big difference in a student body. Academics at LMS have been awesome, and although it is a bit of a financial strain for myself, I think it’s worth every penny I’ve spent here.
My daughter is enrolled in the seventh grade. Their new curriculum is teaching them how to work in groups and think critically. They learn history and current events through a moral lens that is appropriate for a Mennonite School. I am very impressed with the presentations they give to the parents and the public. For this grade and maturity level I feel they are far ahead of where I was at this age. I am confident that when they start high school they will be prepared.
