Spent a morning here on a job interview. Entire teaching and admin staff is white and under 40, including the other candidates in my tour group. Observed 2 classrooms. The classroom management is neurotically robotic. And while the teachers talk a lot at least 50% of what they say is be quiet or sit up. Saw zero creativity displayed by students in classrooms or on the walls. An expensive baby grand piano sat unplayed in the lobby with a list of acceptable playing on the keyboard. Sports teams are either non-existent or horrible. No extracurricular activities that I heard about except robotics club. Felt more like a factory than a school that students will look back upon fondly. I don’t think they even have dances. Borderline military school run by millennials.
I’m really at a neutral point when it comes to this school as from one point it has drastically helped me to improve in both comprehension and mathematical skills, and on the other hand it has caused me incredible amounts of stress as result of the excessive strictness and bias that it amounts around certain students. It has suited me better academically then my old school, but overall it can be a depressing place especially if you make the teachers hate you. Ultimately, if you have no social life and are a fan of getting those (exceptional) Straight A’s then this is the school for you, but other than that you might find a hard time to deal with the oppressive culture and hassle of getting good grades.
