This is such an outstanding school I’m not sure where to start. My oldest son is a first grader here and he is reading so well it is hard to believe. I tutored last year and I couldn’t believe how hard the first grade challenge spelling tests words were. Words like February Cylinder, President and Principle that I just used spell check to make sure I had them correct. I thought wow, my son is in trouble but his AMAZING teacher has him spelling everything is site. Did I mention in his math group they are adding two 3 digit numbers and carrying already? Just a quick walk through the school during the day and you would be amazed at how good the discipline is — 20 kids standing quietly in line with their hands to themselves. I can’t do that with just my two kids.
For those of you that are stuck on test scores look at Briarcliff’s reading scores for English as a second language. Their scores are double that of the other Cary schools, I know why. Also note this diverse school is one of smallest in Wake Co.
If I could give it a lower star I would. I used to be a student at Briarcliff Elementary but now i’m a lot older. The reason why I hated the school is the main reason you bring your kids over to school… the education. I learned very little the years that I was there. In Cary High I learned a lot more things and even the middle school I was at I learned so much more that if I just started there I could’ve probably graduated when I was 14. If you want your kid just to have a great time it is not bad but you value education at a young age then don’t even touch this school it is the worse.
