My daughter was assaulted by another student. When she defended herself, she was suspended for 5 days. I went to the school to question this logic and was treated very ruddily by Kim Fischer and C Scott Kerr. When I called the police from inside Fischers office, she threatened me not to do it. As I am on hold with Surprise police non-emergency, she calls 911 and tells them I am causing a disturbance and acting in a threatening manner. Needless to say the police acted on her behalf and wrote me a ticket for causing a public disturbance. Only after being told by the officer who wrote me up and Fischer over and over that it was not an assault on my daughter, a supervisor, who showed up late into the 3 hour ordeal, agreed that it was assault and the first cop wrote the report. Its been two days and no one from the police has called to talk to me or my daughter about the incident. We have twice gone to the district office seeking help with this situation and have gotten little at this time. Kimberly Fischer lied numerous times trying to have me arrested as a way to deflect the schools responsibility in my daughter being assaulted. My daughter went to a staff member and said that a girl was threatening to cut her face with the rings on her hands and was told that doesnt sound good. A teacher overheard the threatening talk and told both girls to knock it off and take their test. My daughter has gone to the office with complaints on the bulling from this girl in the past and nothing was done to protect here. This is an ongoing pattern of harassment and bulling that could have been stopped at any point prior to my daughter being assaulted. The failure of Kerr and Fischer to protect my daughter is criminal and should be treated that way. These educators treat the students like prisoners and the parents like idiots. Fischer repeatedly waved her hands in a sweeping motion as she told me it was my time to leave. Little did she know how foolish she looked and sounded, as we taped the whole thing. Kerr, once he finally showed up, took a very aggressive stance with me and gave me what could only be described as an evil eye. I find it amusing when someone like Scott puffs up when protected by the police department, but avoids that person at all cost every other time. After last year, when Campbell -Hernandez tried to fail my kindergartener, we had a meeting that I thought would surely make them aware of how protective I am of my children. She tried to have my 5 year old put in special Ed classes. I asked if there was another option prior to making that decision. She said that was it. I then told Kerr that before I allowed this to happen, they would be transferring my son to another class. She, Campbell Hernandez, stated that she had some advanced degree in education and had never been question on her skills at teaching. I told her that Shaquille ONeal had an advanced degree in criminal law, but I didnt want him policing me neighborhood. She then stormed out of the room like the self-righteous egomaniac she is. Side note, my son showed immediate improvement in work and behavior once he was free from her tyrannical teaching methods. Then, instead of admitting that she was the reason my son was struggling, she doubled down. She sent her son to school, same class as my daughter, and had him tell my daughter that James, my son, was the worst behaved child she had ever been forced to try and teach. So in conclusion, I am not very happy with RGE, Kerr, Fischer, and Campbell Hernandez. I have not fully formed my plan as to how I will respond to these behaviors, but I am all in 100% to make sure they think twice prior to bulling another parent or allowing a child to be assaulted.
Rancho Gabriela Elementary School has earned an “A” grade from the Arizona Department of Education for their achievement ratings for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014!
That’s awesome!
Great school with great teachers and staff. My favorite part of the school is the Principal (Mr. Kerr). I like how candid he is, a “straight-shooter.”
Dysart is also well-managed, earning an “A” rating overall and called a district with the best “bang for your buck” (meaning making the most of the miniscule funds they are provided and getting the best results with our children).
[Just for those that might read this and wonder about 2015/16, they won’t assign letter grades 2015 and 2016 due to the new AZ MERIT testing.]
