Worst Success Academy ever! If your child has a IEP or any type of learning disability, or a disability period don’t send them here. The staff will not work with you because they don’t want to deal with the process like regular elementary Schools do. The principal, Emily, will suspend a child whose not even in the 1st grade yet several times due to a disability that can’t be controled. I felt like because this is her 1st time as a principal of her own School she didn’t know how to handle the situation correctly like principals who have years in do, so she just suspends children, causing them to miss out on important education skills & learning. I should have just went with my 1st Success Academy School choice who has a principal that knows what she’s doing & has a School that’s been opened for years rather then this new School who only caters to “perfect children” but my child is doing much better now & I’m glad I don’t have to deal with this School anymore.
Overall the school is good, but kids have to be at school before 7:45 they’re already calling you 7:47 to inform you that your child is late and now your child needs a late pass before she or he can enter classroom. When your child is late they are not allowed to participate in any events for that month / week. This is New York City anything can happen 7:50/7:55 shouldn’t be to much to ask for. The kids shouldn’t have to suffer for things that’s going around in they’re community for being 5-10 mins late. So not only does the guardian that takes the child to school feel bad but the kids upset Also. I’ve know many other parents that feels the same exact way it should be at least 5-10 min grace period.
