This isn’t the review that I’d like to make but I feel I have an obligation to bring attention to this issue and protect my community by addressing the matter. My 3.5 year old Autistic son started swim lessons at Safe Splash Chantilly earlier this summer. The facility is beautiful and we were very pleased with absolutely everything about it until Sunday, July 30th between 12:30pm and 1pm. There was an instructor there who was sitting at the front desk talking to another employee about a child. The instructor was frustrated with the child’s behavior and said “I’ll let him drown,” and “I’ll pinch him back.” I heard this with my own ears. I was the only person in the entire lobby, so I heard it clear as day. I immediately brought this to the attention of the manager who insisted to me that I misheard. I told her to pull the tapes, and clearly, she never did because it appears that the instructor is still working with children, jokingly (or not jokingly) threatening to drown them for being difficult to work with. I have jumped through hoops at this point, speaking to both the general manager and district manager, trying to get this girl taken out of her position. I don’t walk around trying to get people fired from their jobs, but when it’s a life or death matter which it literally is for small children who don’t know how to swim – I take it very VERY seriously. Especially since my son is Autistic and non-verbal, if this girl was in the pool with him, he wouldn’t be able to tell me whether or not she mistreated him. I am disgusted by the way the matter has been handled/not handled. I have given Safe Splash almost an entire month to provide me with the update that both my husband and I have asked for. Jen and Morgan – I told you that if something wasn’t done I would have no choice but to write this review. Don’t call me and try to bribe me into editing my review. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of what I’ve been through because of this disgusting incident.

Bottom line, I don’t recommend Safe Splash Chantilly. Although the facility is beautiful, the staff is irresponsible, the leadership failed my family, and well never be back because of what was said about a child in front of me.

I enrolled in adult swimming classes and after I have had 4 classes with 3 different instructors, I have to say that I am not very satisfied with the pace of my lessons. So far I have only learned how to kick using a bar float. It’s not that I am not very motivated to learn, because I learned how to float on day 1 and also had started kicking practice on the same day. In 3 out of 4 classes, I was barely given 5-7 mins of time by the instructors and then I was on my own for the rest of the class. For the most part, I was only making laps and working on my kicking. My third class was with Manager of SafeSplash and she was the only instructor I found had given proper time and was really good at teaching. That was the only class I liked. I only wished I could continue learning swimming effectively as I really like being around water.

Edit: My remaining classes were better than before. Thanks for listening to my concerns Safesplash!
