I was in the very first class of the new kindergarten 1954-55. I had a wonderful teacher by the name of Mrs. Zimmerman. I lived only two blocks from the school on Montgomery St. so I never had a good excuse for missing class. We had a big open field (that isn’t there anymore) and we were allowed to dig fire pits (when we were in second grade) and build fires to roast hot dogs and pretend to be hobos. We grew a garden and creative writing and great art projects. It was truly the best time I ever had in any school and a fantastic foundation for all the years after. I “graduated” from sixth grade and went to the newly opened Oak Crest Jr. High. I now live far away, but Cardiff will always be my real home.
Love love love this school. Both of my kids went here, and every single teacher they or their friends had was hands down terrific. Beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Cardiff encourages lots of parent involvement, and is wonderful about teaching students not only academic skills (with state-of-the-art learning tools and techniques), but also responsibility and care for the community and environment. I’m very grateful my children had the chance to attend this school!
