In the infant room there is no diaper pail in the classroom, which raises the concern that the babies are supposed to be playing with the potential of the room smelling like poop and pee. Also, one member of the staff (One of the infant teacher, I forgot her name but she is the only black teacher in the infant classroom) is rough when handling the children- she grabbed my child by the arm and aggressively pulled his back because he was playing on the bookshelf. I thought that curiosity was encouraged but instead my sons curiosity was responded to with aggression. The lady also picked up my sons pacifier and put it back in his mouth without cleaning it because she assumed I wasn’t watching the Sprout app. When I called to complain they did absolutely nothing to reprimand her. She also has the NASTIEST attitude. After I complained she would come in the room and not even greet me or the person who dropped off my children, instead she just walked past us with a terrible attitude. The level of unprofessionalism that this woman exhibited should be enough for her dismissal because who wants to be treated like that. Olivia and Maria, however, were AMAZING. They were so gentle and sweet to the babies. When I saw multiple babies crying they handled it very well and made sure each baby was cared for. It is because of them that I will even rate this daycare with more than one star. The director also doesn’t care about your complaints and instead of comforting the parents, she just focuses on money. The director is not responsive and doesn’t care about what goes on with the children. When my mom had to take the babies she didn’t show any concern or inquire about what was wrong with them. Instead she just walked in. You would think that a director would be the person who conducts tours and would be the first one at daycare in the morning. Instead she just puts the Team Lead in charge of everything. She doesn’t seem to care about connecting with the parents and instead only cares about making money. She did absolutely nothing to build a connection with me or my children and did nothing to build confidence that this daycare was the right choice. I really appreciated the team lead but she seemed to just do whatever the director couldn’t be bothered to do and it seemed like she didn’t have an ability to truly be herself. Also, they kiss the children on the face which for me is an absolute NO NO. Considering the fact that I have no idea where their mouths have been and they could be spreading something to the babies I was absolutely disgusted by the audacity they had to do that. I understand building connections with the baby but they need to keep their lips to themselves. I would absolutely not recommend this daycare unless you want to have a teacher who is rude and unprofessional or a director who puts finances over advocating for your children.
I cannot say enough good things about how this facility was run and the experiences in the past. However, staff and administrators are quite lacking. My child has been enrolled with them (with the exception of the pandemic) since he was 2, now 10. All day care when young and after school care once he started public school. Our situation and satisfaction of this facility have been sliding downward over the past couple years turning into a spiral as of late. When a child asks not to have to go back to a place they once got excited about going to raises all kinds of red flags. My observations of welcoming 4-5 new children every week speak volumes to the fact of a HIGH client turn over. The observation of just getting know a teacher, then that teacher being gone and replaced by a new teacher has been the new norm. Current administration is not warm. You may get a mumbled greeting when entering if anything at all. However, you WILL get all the attention you ask could ever ask for if you have forgotten to pay them, which is understandable. It would just be nice to receive the same attention and concern in all aspects of their business. Thank you La Petite Academy for 5 good years
good riddance La Petite in the near past.
