My child has been attending this school since the 2nd grade. There are so many negatives about this school, I could go on and on! The teachers are always playing musical chairs, one year they are teaching second grade, the next year they are teaching 6th grade science. When I went to school, this has never happened! I feel this is a reason why students test scores are so LOW! This practice makes no sense to me at all. There a very few teachers who are “professional”, and I’m using that term loosely. As for the principal, she is the worse of them all. Unprofessional, irresponsible, I can tell she is what my mom calls a “hood booger”. They enforce the uniform policy on students so much, that if something is off with their uniform, the child could face the possibility of being written up. Mean while, the principal is walking around in a SUN DRESS and SANDALS! How? How? My child got into an incident last year where another student assaulted my child with a rock and my child had to get stiches. But because this student’s mom is “friends” with the principal NO DISCIPLINARY action was taken against that student!!! It is horrible to know that such things like this happens in the PG County School systems, let alone a “charter school”. Now this transportation system that the school has is Exquisite Limousine, the absolute worse transportation system in all of Maryland! The buses break down almost every month, the buses are more than likely over crowded which raises a safety issue. The buses are supposed to go every where in the PG County region to pick up kids. However, I have to drive my child 35 minutes every single morning to the bus stop, afterwards my child has to sit on the bus for a whole entire hour before getting to school. This transportation company they are using is very unprofessional, bus drivers need to have DRUG TESTS! I mean you’re driving our kids around for goodness sake! I’m paying my taxes, I should not have to do that much for my child to catch the bus to school every morning, when the transportation company should have more RELIABLE DRUG FREE drivers, more routes, and more RELIABLE buses to be able to pick all the kids up! Not sure if the company has been working with the school because they know somebody/ related to someone at the school or what, but this is absolutely ridiculous! Please don’t be fooled by the “charter school” part in the title of this school. This school cannot get any worse in my eyes. Then again, this is the first week of school. Looking for new schools for my child now!
Here is a list of all the things they have done wrong:
1. Most of the teachers do not care at all. When you get in trouble, they either yell at you or send you to the office. When I was sent to the office my 8th-grade year, for being on my phone, the principal did NOTHING but send me back to the classroom with a measly warning.
2. The curriculum is complete trash. I was praised for all my outstanding essays, but, this year, the first essay I get back from my teacher was graded with a 60%. I worked my absolute hardest on that essay! Turns out, TPA prepared me to fail.
3. The buses break down every day, and the buses are overcrowded and EXTREMELY hot. The bus drivers are rude and I caught one of them staring at my chest! (You should really do a background check on them.)
4. The food in the (“multi-purpose” room) cafeteria is DISGUSTING. One of my friends found a fly in her sandwich, and another found that her food was ICE COLD! The cafeteria staff don’t know how to cook vegetables; they are always mushy. The only thing they actually know how to cook is chicken, and they can’t even get “Oven-baked” chicken right!
5. Finally (there’s more, but it would take too long), when they have field trips, they cancel them last minute! The school is old and rundown, and there are no stall doors on the bathroom stalls!
Things they did right:
1. This school taught me to work hard and to have discipline.
2. This school taught me how to be thick-skinned because the children and staff here are cruel.
3. This school taught me to bring my own lunch to school because the food they serve is literal POISON.
Overall, you do NOT want to send your child here. If you do, I warned you.
