Restful Touch School of Massage is indescribable. I began as someone who wanted a healing modality to combine with my spirituality as a career, and I left with so much more than I thought I was capable of. This school transformed my life. I went from lost and trying to find my way working mediocre paying jobs to just now celebrating passing my MBLEX and getting to start my own business. The classroom style is casual though tables and chairs are completely available. Our class of 2022 decided to sit on bolsters and yoga mats surrounded by plants and natural light, peeking out at the deer outside the windows in the forest while massaging. Sarah, the owner of Restful Touch Spa and the school, worked with each of us individually to help us harness our strengths. Each day in class was a joy – we learned something incredible every day and did a lot of hands-on work. I will happily admit that I failed Anatomy and Physiology in college after an entire semester, but just a few months at Sarah’s school working with teachers Kizzy and Eddie, I have memorized by heart the entire anatomy of a body and its physiological functions and have even used that knowledge for my own healing and self care. Every class subject, every massage technique, every conversation fits as a piece in the puzzle to allow for every student to find their own way in the world of massage therapy and its incredible benefits, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual. You will be prepared, and you will be shocked by how much you’ve learned by the end of May. Everyone is welcome. Each person in our class came from different backgrounds, different beliefs, lifestyles, etc., but we all had so much fun together and I feel so grateful to call them friends. In this school your confidence in yourself will grow, your purpose will feel more defined, and there’s nowhere to go but up. If you feel the urge to sign up for a massage therapy school, this is the place. Sarah and all of the teachers are there because they truly care, and you can feel it from your heart and soul after every class. They connect with you and are there to see you succeed, and will adjust their teaching methods to fit what works best for you. Just now from off the top of my head from this 9 month program, I’ll list off the things I learned that I can perform without a doubt in my mind thanks to Sarah and our teachers:

Timed massage routines for effortless flow and relaxation
Swedish massage techniques
NMT (neuromuscular therapy) and knowing the trigger points throughout the body
Myofascial release and working with the body’s fascia
Acupressure, following the guidelines of Asian medicine and meridians
Prenatal massage
Reiki level 2 and knowing about the energetic bodies of people, places, things
Assessment of people and how they hold their body to determine what muscles may be tight or out of balance
Sports massage and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching
Spa techniques with hot/cold stones, Gua Sha, hot towels, scrubs, cupping, aromatherapy, bamboo sticks

And honestly, the most helpful thing of all, is learning how to combine all of this knowledge to help clients individually and support their needs. The confidence to know how, for example, if someone’s upper back is tense it may be due to overextended rhomboids and tight pecs, how you can check for it, find the trigger points, bring it all together and help someone truly feel better. To be of service with knowledge and understanding of the body in all its layers and connections, with purpose.

Thank you Sarah, Kizzy, Eddie, Diamon, Lorena, Mali, Kristy, the guest accountant and insurance agent that helped us navigate the business side of things, and everyone involved. This was magical and life-changing.

With so much love, appreciation, and gratitude,

Hannah
