Totally hostile environment. Second rate and unprofessional on every level. Beware all future students and employees
..I have never been involved in such a horrible toxic environment in my life. I thought this place might be on the up but a couple of years after new ownership and it seems to be going down hill with each visit I have in there. You can feel the oppression and the tension as soon as you walk thru the front door. Thank God for the students, a few of the Instructors, & more than anything, the front desk staff. Both of them were pleasant and wonderful to deal with. There are a few instructors who are top tier that Ive had the pleasure of dealing with. Then there are more instructors in the school now, who have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and its very obvious. I try to steer clear. Not only is their attitude offensive, but their direction has produced less than stellar results. As many times as I have been in there, you hear a lot while getting an extended service. The students are usually left without the proper color for the services they are performing, and from what I can tell, the owners know nothing about the laws and regulations that govern the hair industry. The students have absolutely nothing worthy to say about how they are treated by these owners of the school. They do not get a complete kit for the work they need to perform, and its pretty sad considering it costs quite alot to go to the academy to begin with. I think Im done going here altogether after my last visit anyway and I advise you to do the same. There seems to be a high turn over of employees, and the really good instructors are all leaving or are going to be leaving very soon. I dont blame them a bit. This used to be the best school in the area. Now its just a second rate school with a high price tag. It seems to be run more like a business than a school and the cost to get a service there anymore doesnt seem to fit the needs of the clients that want to get services performed. I believe its time to find another school with caring and passionate people employed. It feels like most of the people working there are so down trodden and it shows. Im sorry that Jenny Lea has gone so far down hill anymore. I will be sad to take my business elsewhere in the future. I advise anyone else to do nothing less than the very same.
I really give this place a 1 star review however I wanted people to see the review and owners of business pay to have only the better reviews out front so therefore I had to leave at least a 3. Im sure the owners will respond with something to make the review unjust so here goes. All I can say is, where are they getting the employees from that work here? It was like going to a cosmetology school for the blind. Does Family Dollar have a Cosmetology program people dont know about? My girlfriend got her hair done by a student the other day and I sat with her. The instructor for the senior students has NO IDEA whats going on much less how to do anything related to hair. She was running amuck and all ragged like she didnt have a clue. Not enough experience PERIOD and you could easily tell. Gave the student the wrong color to put on my girlfriends hair. Wasnt anything like she wanted, even with a picture. The attitude of another teacher in there with the inexperienced one was even worse. I am thankful that the student knew what she was halfway doing and told us both that she had been around salons since she was little or I would have taken my girlfriend out of there. Apparently it matters who you get as to what price you pay. Thats ridiculous. It should be the same across the board because its a school. My girlfriend came here a few years back and the teachers were really great then. I just believe if you are going to charge what you charge for services it needs to be worthy of the establishment . Therefore 1 star for the review for the lack of teaching and helping the student properly. Cosmetology schools should hired qualified teachers that have 10+ years experience
