This school is so over the top and advanced for MIDDLE SCHOOLERS its ridiculous. Other reviews tote how good this school is but it isn’t. The sheer amount of work they give is unbelievably stressful on a young mind, not even considering the level of advancement its at which would be much for HIGH SCHOOLERS. My cousin went there only for 5 days and he nearly had a mental breakdown from the amount of stress he had over the assignments. He’s only in the 7th grade yet they treat him like high schooler with they physics, biology and chemistry among eight other classes to make a total of 11, a majority of which are that of a high school level. Not to mention there is extreme bullying that runs rampant though the school and yet the principal and the staff do nothing about it, the amount of homework and tests as stated, is ridiculous it takes 2 hours just to finish math and this is only 7th grade imagine 8th and high school. On top of all this the school doesn’t even provide lunches and expect students to either bring their own or for parents to give their kids money for the nearby fuddruckers. I know it might seem good because of the accomplishments that are beyond average but the way they do this is unbelievably stressful and detrimental for a young persons psyche. May i remind you my cousin has only been there for less than a week and already is desperate to leave. I would not recommend this school to anyone unless their child was nothing short of a prodigy. The amount and difficulty of the work, strictness of the teachers and seemingly uncaring faculty is beyond comprehension and if you are looking to give your children a quality education or even just a decent schooling experience just send them to regular public school or private school not this needlessly over complicated and stressful experience that is basis
I’m currently a student at Basis Shavano and have been in the Basis curriculum for almost 4 years. The main review received for this school is that “the homework is too much” or “it is too challenging”. It definitely takes some work to do well in the school, but in all it isn’t that bad; especially considering the benefit it can give you in college doing well is quite rewarding. There is only one general problem about the school itself. Students are generally nice and shouldn’t give you a rough time, teachers are usually kind, funny, and interesting to watch teach, but the main problem that happens in Basis schools is how unprepared they are to make them. We still haven’t received the promised indoor gym and some of the school painting is unfinished, in fact, last year, Basis made us move to a church in some bad conditions for a full school year, because they couldn’t finish the school in time. In the end, I would recommend Basis for all of its numerous benefits over the work it takes to do well
