As a student, I’ll try my best to give an give an honest and fair opinion. If it weren’t for Edward Brooke, I wouldn’t be able to go to Nobles. If it weren’t for this school, I wouldn’t be able to get the education I have today. As a rising freshman who’s about to become an alumni at Edward Brooke, I have to say that my experience wasn’t all that great. Bad and terrible would be an exaggeration of my experience. However, saying my experience was great would be an understatement. There are some concepts of the school, from an outsider’s perspective, may seem to be helpful towards the student’s education. From a student’s perspective, I must say that I disagree with how the school is run. Instead of hearing from a teacher’s perspective about this school’s greatness, I will now proceed to give my honest and true opinion. Centered around the perfect school, Edward Brooke has created the perfect distopia. A lot of the time, we are told our voices matter. We are told that we matter to our leaders. But over and over again, all I’ve seen are teachers asserting their power like tyrants. This isn’t true for every teacher but I must say that I’ve seen my fair share of teachers who act like this. Students don’t have any way of expressing themselves. We are so restrained from being human beings. Real people. We are just supposed to be a model student that represents the school well. This isn’t possible nor fair for the student. It’s as if the saying, “nobody’s perfect,” has been crumpled into a paperball, tossed into the trash and burned to ashes. Before this turns into a rant about my life at school I have a message to parents considering this school: Every school has its ups and downs. However, it’s not about the name, it’s about the experience for YOUR child. If your child isn’t happy at a school, don’t reply with, “it’s a good school so you’ll have to stick with it.” What’s written down or repeated verbally doesn’t determine what’s true for everyone. The students are the future. Help them want to pursue an active change in our already messed up world. Don’t allow them to give up. If any parent is considering this school, think about your child. They’re human beings, not trophies. Thank you for reading this review and please consider what I’ve said. It’s never too late.
I couldn’t ask for a better school for my son. My son been attending in that school since k2 and now his in 4th grade his doing excellent!!! from the teachers to principle very polite and smart. all the teachers in the school whether they teaching k or 6 grade they know all the kids name.
