My daughter is a student at this school and when I tell you I am completely disgusted with the staff at this school. They are HIGHLY unprofessional. I attended an award ceremony and they had a poor selection of music, one song titled “Crew” by Gold Link featuring Shy Glizzy. This song was INAPPROPRIATE for an elementary school award ceremony which is supposed to have age and event appropriate music. Not only did they have that song they also had “Be Humble” by Kendrick Lamar playing which is also another HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE song considering the unedited version of the song. When I got to express my concerns to the assistant principal her reply was its a tradition and a way to keep the kids calm during such assembly’s. Then about a week later when the principal got around to returning my call, she seemed surprise like this should not have been a concern and as if I was wasting her time, she also made it clear that she does not check the song playlists prior to events. Also, my daughter third grade teacher Mrs. Bryant is very rude. She blocked me from the class dojo app which allows me as a parent to keep up with my daughters behavior and progress, simply because she did not agree with my statement about an issue about a field trip that I told her my daughter would not be attending. She decided to act like her children and turned this conversation into a back and forth and when asked to stay in her lane she took it personally. When initially this back and forth should not have taken place when I told her that my daughter would not be going on the field trip. This school and its staff needs better customer service training on how to deal with parents. Where my child attends school and how the staff treats there students is very important to me. My daughter recently came home upset because she said her teacher was stressed and yelling at her class. My child should not come home telling me her teacher is stressed. In the professional world, you are expected to leave your personal issues at the door. To be a teacher I can imagine is a VERY stressful job, however, it is no excuse to behave in any unprofessional manor despite the circumstance. This is the job that you all signed up for so I expect as a parent that the staff is to act accordingly or seek a new career path.
My daughter has been attending this school for the past 2 years and it has been terrible. The teachers suck, either they don’t know how to teach or are only showing up for the paycheck. PG County schools curriculum is extremely too hard for the average 2nd grader. They don’t concentrate on actually teacher so the students can actually learn, they are only teaching them whats needed for the test they take through out the year. They have tried to keep my daughter back twice because the TEACHER FAILED to contact me to let me know that my child was beginning to struggle. When you are trying to get in contact with the teachers, they never are available nor do they answer any emails and that’s if they even provided one. Overall, this school needs to change because I know my daughter is not learning much from her teacher now or last year. I should not have to teach my daughter the curriculum that she is missing. She will be going back to her old school after summer break. SAD!
