2021- 2022 School Year. Another school year and still the same issues…. Rio Rancho has the worst public school transportation department ever! A child should not be getting dropped off at or later than 5pm, when school let’s out at 3:45pm!

Posting to let the student transportation system know that their new management and routing of buses is not safe for anyone. This is not a driver issue. Our current driver has been routed to pick up in our area when they are already dropping off at another school that isn’t even in our district! That means he has to haul it to his first stop in our district, then haul it through the stops, all the way to school. The latest print of scheduled stop times gives the driver around a minute; to fully stop, let kids on the bus, have them sit, close the doors, and get to the next stop. I assure you this is not enough time to safely stop/ transport children. Also, I’ve mapped the route and even if the driver is barely stopping to keep time, the bus still doesn’t make it to the school in the allotted time given by the department. WHAT IS GOING ON? Is there a shortage of drivers?, shortage of funds?, or just the shortage of common sense and concern for safety that the department is showing?

You can’t speak to the person you are calling. You can leave several voice messages, but all you ever get is lip service. Have a problem with a bus driver that flirts with the middle school female students. This driver (probably in his 50’s) makes inappropriate comments to them. I have informed the director about this driver, but it is fairly obvious that they don’t really care, and they still allow him to drive the bus. I guess as long as a student doesn’t get hurt, it is acceptable behavior to this department. The director did finally reach out after a few weeks (several phone calls, and an unanswered email). He said that they were making a “change”, but nothing has happened. They were going to allow the driver to pick another route. WOW! I guess they really don’t care that he works around young female students.He promised to call back on a certain day, but of course he did not. I called and left him 2 voice mails in as many days, my wife called the 3rd day, but still have not heard back. The only person that seems to care, is the lady that answers the phone.
Now we are going to have to take a different course.
