I have severe emetaphobia. And in elementary school that’s the worst place to be. My teachers practically harassed me and it’s part of the reason why still today I’m so emotionally scarred. The kids bullied me, I had a music teacher that tried talking me into going to the room after two kids had gotten I’ll and I remember the bigger staff members trying to roll me into a chair while screaming at the top of my lungs. My poor mother having to tell me it’s okay when I’m coming home crying everyday, and you know what they did? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I eventually had to move from Keller isd after hidden lakes due to harassments from kids and eventually as a 10 year old I had suicidal thoughts.
Keller is a high end part of town most kids that go there have it all and I was a minority. Everyone made fun of me. All because I was afraid of people throwing up. I’m now 16 years old and have manic depression, anxiety, symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder and rely on my single mother and my father who barley knows me anymore. My name is Alexis Cortinas and my mother and father are David and andrea. I have the medical disorders I have because my teachers thought what I was going through was a phase. Unless you want the few students that have anxiety to end up on meds at the early age of 6 then I highly suggest you bring attention to the fact it’s not a “phase” because before you know it your child will live in a world filled with anxiety and stress.
The teachers and the staff have been simply amazing at pick-up and drop off. I have not heard one sour word from anyone there. I’m glad that my son has a great atmosphere to evolve in. Kudos!
