Closed their sixth form at the last minute, leaving students STRANDED, with nowhere to go except for a school 9 miles away. The standards of the school have dropped and stayed below the fault line. Members of staff choose favourite students who are treated to the highest of praise, whereas bullied students are punished and held to a different degree. The school had its promises, but were let down by incompetent staffing, with only select teachers supporting students in their academics.
Overall, the school’s majority members of staff are inept and unqualified for their roles as staff and do not give support to students who need it, but pander to the needs of bullies and societal misfits.
AVOID!! As a parent with a child with SEN needs I was recommended this school. It was by far the worst decision I’ve ever made. The teachers are disgusting and nothing short of bullies. My son was excluded because he was arguing with a teacher and was told the teacher “Feared for his life” later to find out how this same teacher told me son to “shut his mouth and to get out his class as he’s a problem child”
After what I can only describe as me unleashing pure rage in the school I was then told the school was sorry because the teacher hadn’t read my son’s SEN profile.
Theyve had multiple sources of funding out my son but when asked where that’s going, answers are vague.
They put your child on a reduced provision of no proper education as they don’t want to deal with the problem and tell you have they don’t have the staff to facilitate your child’s SEN and educational needs. The endless meetings and plans never last more than 2weeks.. I’ve seen first hand how they talk to there students when I’ve been stood in reception and wonder why are kids are full of depression and anxiety.
Despite writing a lengthy email to one the seniors of a partnering company that sponsors johnwilmot and also having a meeting regarding my concerns NOTHING changed.
Do not send your child her especially if your child has SEN needs. My son’s in a middle on an EHCP assessment and I was told to find another school as he’s struggling. When I replied with “is that the only option your giving me” the SEN teacher replied with ” the detentions and the sanctions will just keep coming”
Absolutely disgusting
Trash school. I went here and the behaviour of the students was horrible. The teachers don’t care about the students and just want their money. Atleast 2 substitute teachers per day is ridiculous, I get that there is a teacher shortage for every school but they aren’t even trying to find good teachers they’re just hiring anyone atp.
My child started in sept this year having not got into closer Sutton schools. Very happy with standard of teaching. Children are stretched academically and there is a great focus on wellbeing. My child feels safe and there is a good range of extra curricular activities too. Thank you to all the staff there for a great experience so far.
Despite the purported recent improvements, one core problem hasn’t changed – that the teachers in this school are the real bullies. I as a parent have experienced this from them first-hand. They would be lenient to extremely ill-behaved children on the one hand, and will be so hard-handed on soft kids for minor misdemeanours on the other. Without proper management of bad behaviour and without compassion, I am not hopeful of much good coming out of all the sweeping changes they are making at the moment. Without addressing the core problem (that the majority of the older teachers are rude and incompetent), cosmetic changes like uniform colour and the school name will be of little gain.
