My son has high-functioning ASD and SEN and had been bullied at a previous school. He attended this school and completed slightly fewer GCSEs, but to a very high standard about 3 years ago and moved onto A levels. It’s a lovely small and pleasant school, that provides an education environment that supports a more tailored education, considering the needs of individual children. The tutors and almost all of the teachers are very supportive and caring. The school is very inclusive, providing small class sizes, and differing classes that support the learning experience of a wide range of abilities. The small size of the school adds transparency and they take bullying very seriously, work to discourage this type of culture, and deal with any reported instances in a timely and effective manner, with consideration for all concerned, rather than paying lip service to this on the website! A great school for a well-rounded education for children, who will have the opportunity to make a peer group of friends. It is well worth the fees!! Great national, and international trips if you can find the cash for that too. The wool blazer can be a bit prickly and looks a bit like a Christmas tree, but you can always talk to them about that or have a note from the GP if this is a problem and that will not be an issue either. Good luck to you, it’s not been an easy road for my son, but this school was a real find and we will both treasure the memories and support that we received at the school. The High and Grammar provide buses/coaches you can use to get your child to the school and this works very well if you live a distance from the school, as we did. It’s a shame they cannot provide A levels and the transfer to the next school can be an issue and worth getting started on an EHCP with Hollygirt if your child requires that support because follow-on schools can be less accommodating in the provision of much-needed support without one compared with Hollygirt. Most children seem to enter a main steam college and these seem to be good at catering to a wider range of abilities and SEN, so look around at all the options and never give up! I can’t recommend this school highly enough.
Hollygirt has been a eye-opener of what education looks like when teachers know your children and how to encourage their strengths and help them overcome their challenges.

The school is small and this allows children to thrive in a family-like environment where education feels inclusive and stimulating rather than something to be ‘done’. I have been really impressed with the changes in my son since he started-he genuinely loves going to school, happily engages in work at home, and feels connected to both staff and pupils.

Keep up your amazing work!

A positive and happy school, the new head has in my view gone above and beyond breathing fresh life into the school, and is extremely approachable. A recent trip to Europe was a huge success. Great values and positive teaching. Small class sizes allow your child to develop to their highest potential. the school is proactive and innovated with learning opportunities. The culture is inclusive and nurturing with a focus on each child achieving their best and being developed as individuals. My daughter has grown in confidence as is thriving at this wonderful school.
My child has transformed in the short time he’s been here. We’ve gone from daily battles to him going to school enthusiastic and happy. Can’t recommend Hollygirt enough.
Hollygirt School is what true education is really about. It broadens and builds childrens’ potential to help them reach and grasp the best of themselves. It’s not all about the summative – it’s about that crucial formative experience that enables those scores and marks to be achieved. Hollygirt has had an astonishing impact on my child’s self confidence in a very short period of time. As an educationalist myself, I can’t recommend the school more. Thank you to all the teachers and the Head for making Hollygirt the unique school that it is.
