As a foreign teacher trying to start off my teaching career with the exploitive supply teaching industry of London, the headteacher at this school (don’t remember her name) complained to my agency because I was back 15 minutes late from lunch. We were back 10 minutes late from swimming, I didn’t have a lunch and there was no food nearby – or at least I didn’t know where; so I got lost on my way back. I apologized like crazy for the remainder of the day – directly to the very same headteacher who later complained about me. She was thankful for my apology, my gesture going to see her after school, and seemed very understanding of the situation. My first day in this area of London. TEACHERS ARE HUMAN TOO! I’D LOVE TO KNOW what she had to go through when she started her career, if her employer stopped giving her work when she was late.
