I have started sending my son to Mary Mackillop to learn Catholic values. I had to pull him out of his last school just so I can send him to a Catholic school. He loved going to school at his last school but since attending Mary Mackillop I notice he would say he’s unwell or he would cry when I drop him off at the gate.
Last year he walked out of the school on a particular day with one pair of shoe. I asked him what happen, he said his friend threw his other shoe over the fence. I was shocked and brought this up with his teacher.
Two occasions my son would mention to me that the boys in his class teased him about his long beautiful hair. I again, came to speak to his teacher.
Now that school have started again. I picked up my son today only to be faced with his sad face. I notice that his hat was missing and that his bag handle ripped. When I asked him he broke down and cried. He said that his ‘friend’ hid his hat and he was pulling his bag when the handle ripped. He said he told his teacher and she told him ‘That’s what you get when you are up to no good boy’. I am fuming over this teachers response. Unbelievable.
I am over this. It is unacceptable. I am going to treat this as ‘Peer Bullying’ now and of the teacher, ‘Negligent’. A big time failure on the teachers management of the children. She has neglected my son’s issues while he was in her care.
I am hoping to speak more with the school and hopefully the school will be better in promoting Catholic values with our children.
I am just another very sad and not happy parent.
We came home from Australia this year in hopes of reconnecting with Family an friends. St Mary MacKillop teachers are helpful, friendly n most of all inclusive of all cultures. I consider them whanau.
