The IT equipment never works because it’s not set up properly, such as a lack of printers being set up on them or a severe lack of software, including computers that don’t even have Windows activated which prevents certain settings from being changed. We bring this up to staff and even during course rep meetings, to find that we are completely ignored on the matter. How I’m able to finish my engineering project without CAD software on the computers is beyond me, I am paying for my course so a severe lack of effort in the IT department ruins it.
Then there’s also the lack of hours in the course. We get 12 and a half hours contact time per week, which is not the 16 hours required for a full time course. Again, I’m paying for a full time course and when we complained about the lack of hours, we got shrugged off and ignored. We now have to do one or two units entirely at home because of the lack of hours when they are supposed to be done during contact time at college. It’s been extremely stressful juggling time around to get on with the work and trying to learn so we can complete our assignments.
The overall college is terrible and it’s management that makes the place a joke. The lecturers I have and who I have got to know are amazing, I cannot fault them at all. I feel sorry for them that they have to deal with such a horrible place to work at.
The rest pends on which course you take!
