We went for dinner at Bistro52 at WelTec in central Wellington tonight knowing that the kitchen and wait staff are all in training. The wait staff were very attentive. Paul, in charge of the restaurant was always around to give guidance and to check in with the customers. The tables were set with lovely clean linen and candles. Before dinner, we got served with fresh crusty bread & butter. There were 3 choices of each course (starters, mains and desserts). The menu had a specific wine recommendation for each dish. Each course was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. So enjoyable, I really wanted to lick the plate but wasn’t allowed by my husband. Not proper form . For a 3 course meal, the charge was $30. Where can you get that anywhere else? Would I recommend this restaurant? So much so, we would definitely go back again if we have the chance. Very well done to all the kitchen and wait staff. You did really well.
We went to Bistro 52 for dinner. This is the hospitality school training restaurant. They had a 4 course degustation menu for $50. Great food and outstanding service. Would definitely recommend it. Top tip is that too find it you have to go inside the building and take lift to the third floor.
Beautiful service, Beautiful food and staff are very friendly. I would love to go there again. There are times of the year the Institute restaurant opens to staff and outsiders to taste the students cooking. Our whole team thoroughly enjoyed our meals
Well done guys.
Weltec’s Wellington Hospitality campus is centrally located in the city at 52, Lower Cuba Street, right in the midst of the city’s bars and restaurants and offers short and medium-term courses. It shares this building with the prestigious, Le Cordon Bleu Paris culinary school. WSH’s training restaurant, Bistro 52, is open to the public where trainee chefs get to cook for real, paying, dining guests. Their training cafe, Latte Lab serves a similar purpose where students test their cafe skills on the public.
