It’s been a few years since I went to this school, but I thought it was time I wrote a review based on my experience.

For some context, I was an extremely highly rated academically, and I went to the school for prep to y6.

I always wanted to go to school, never a problem, but there were many things I wanted to talk about.

The school equipment was amazing, the buildings were very open and good for learning, and the support groups for the lower children were great for their learning. The only major problem that I had is that I always felt like I was being held back, as I rarely got to learn things that I didn’t know.

I always felt bad when the naughty kids got to do very fun stuff and got many rewards. (For example, the reward system favoured the kids that were very naughty. This made me feel like I was missing out just because I was nice.)

The teachers were alright, some were amazing however.

The lack of support given to me as a gifted child was alarming however, as everyday was a bore. When it came to testing me to see how I grew, the teachers expected me to grow a year (despite already being to years ahead) when it came to end of year testing. To be honest, I never really learnt anything academically, but the main takeaway from this school was the social skills I gained. All the stuff I learnt that helped me get a scholarship was from out of school tutoring.

The sense of community I had at this school was phenomenal, I always had a sense of pride.

If you’re reading this, and you’re a leader of this school, give the gifted kids some attention. They want to learn things too.

I would recommend this school for almost all students, the teachers are great at supporting your child, naughty or nice. They’ll teach them how to respect others and basic education.

If you really want the best for your child, invest in their future and try and take them to a grammar school. I’m currently in one and it was life changing compared to the catholic high school I went to (Thomas Carr.)

From a past student, I rate the school 8/10.

I have been involved with the school since before it opened. I miss Jan and a lot of the other staff dearly. I have to say I was looking forward to a new Principal and direction for the school but was very apprehensive when Michelle started. I agree many of the children were as its been said “out of control” but it’s now a pleasure to walk into the school especially at drop off & pick up, it’s so calm and peaceful! Both of my boys have special needs and have had their fair share of being bullied at school. All the teachers and extended staff have always tried their best to help. They show compassion, not just to the children but to the whole family always happy to lend an ear and give you a hug! This will be my last year at the school as both my sons will have moved onto high school . The more I get to know Michelle, work with her, & listen to her plans for the direction of the school, I wish I could have more time here! Life is to short to have grievances and say nasty things.
My daughter loved this school she never got bullied the teachers were so nice my daughter hates her new school she’s getting bullied but I’m wondering what happened to the chicken coop
The trees got chopped down the chickens were moved to a farm but I don’t know I haven’t been there since 2023
Thomas Carr now. Good teachers but some bad ones in my old school My grade 6 ones were good though
During my daughters prep year, she had an amazing time. She was young and naive and just enjoyed making new friends. Start of year 1 and she gets bullied for being friends with a year 2 boy, whom she has known since they were babies. We spoke to her teacher and things quietened down for a few months. But, it started up again and my girl refused to go to school. She wouldn’t eat, was getting sick. It was horrible. After having a chat with Michelle, it has been a ripper of a few months. My daughter doesn’t want to change schools anymore, phew. Michelle is absolutely lovely, understanding and actually engages in conversation. I see how much the kids love her and she has remembered many a name. Being her first year, that’s pretty impressive. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t so sure about her at first, but you should never judge a book by it’s cover
