West Ashley is a hidden jewel that people often overlook. My personal experience is my children thrived at the school. My oldest actually started out at a charter school in a neighboring community. It was a bit of a drive but I thought I was making the best decision for my child. People were telling me, “you don’t want to go to West Ashley.” Well, my child went to the charter and had a horrible experience. There is more to a good school than what’s on paper and what’s in a sales pitch. I felt like an outsider myself. We transferred to our home school, West Ashley. Best decision we ever made. My children were honor students and were active in sports and drama. I felt the school had a more rounded curriculum from culinary to engineering to AP to whatever. My children, especially my oldest, found a family. Here’s the kicker. The people saying you don’t want to go there, have never stepped foot on campus. If you live in West Ashley and are looking for a great school, the school is in your back yard on Wildcat Blvd. West Ashley High School.

I will graduate in 2019 and to be honest the kids there are mostly harmless, as long as you don’t do something stupid you’ll get along fine. The real issue there is the administration is pretty bad in my personal opinion but it’s made up with the teachers, more so the ap ones who genuinely care and the JROTC program is also good
