Synopsis: It started wonderfully — Later, we became very displeased.

When my family and I were first looking into daycare facilities in the area, we were thrilled to find Cane Bay Academy. The facility is clean, very nice, and the directors are very welcoming. Over the course of a few years, we started noticing that the older classrooms were out of ratio (1/13) on a regular basis. There would be 15-20 children in a room with one teacher.

Later, the facility closed for a hurricane. There were still $80 charges for the week when no teachers, directors, or others were working. My child did not attend that week nor did anyone else’s children. When I expressed my concerns over paying for services that were not rendered (daycare is not cheap), I was told that if I’m not happy then I should find another care provider. So we did.

There are times when substitute teachers do not request identification from people picking up and then release children to guardians that they’ve never met. We verbally mentioned this as well. Information on daily papers that came home were also not accurate (child was marked eating 3/4 of lunch, when none was eaten at all).

This dependent care provider does have good teachers and they work hard. We just felt like that we were later on treated as a “family that was paying for a daycare spot” as opposed to our concerns and suggestions being carefully considered for improvement.

When I first started looking for daycares/schools for my 14 month old I found other places with tons of reviews. I was a bit hesitant when I found Cane Bay Academy and it had no reviews. I can’t say how happy I am to be able to write their first review. From the minute my husband and I walked in for the tour we loooooovvvveeeddd the facility, my daughter was also with us and interested. In addition the director made us feel so welcomed and comfortable, she answered all of our questions, she was not in a rush to get us out of the school. She showed us all of the classrooms, introduced us to some of the teachers that where still there (we did the tour late afternoon). We felt so at ease and couldn’t wait for our little one to start. The school was opened in February so it’s really new. For us it will be beyond convenient since we are building in Cane Bay. Finally our baby started this week and we couldn’t be happier!!! Her teachers are so incredibly caring, this for us was important since she has been home with us full time till now. If you are a parent considering this school for your child please don’t hesitate. The director and everyone we have met so far are outstanding, extremely respectful and very caring with the children that are there. Sophia is happy and so are we!!!!! Great job Cane Bay Academy thank you.
My son went to this school for about 8 months. First impression was the school is clean, lots of toys. My son was one of the few African American kids that where here. No lunches where provided for the kids. 220 a week and a $5 payment processing fee. $225 a week. I was referred due to the old director who was their. She was really good and had lots of experience. A new director came on and everything went down hill really fast. Calls every day about a 3 year old. Comes to pick him up he has on other peoples clothes , his clothes not coming back home, kids hitting him. Made the decision to just Pull him from the school. No credit was given he only went on a Monday and didn’t return and I was still charged 225. IF YOU HAVE A AFRICAN AMERICAN child please think twice before putting your child in this school.
