I went to Southside from 2010 – 2015. To be honest, I remember making plans with my friends to give horrible reviews on Google so then, just maybe, the staff would buy us a vending machine and the lunch would be tastier. But I’m not going to do that. I have to visit my former teachers every day, as my younger sister continues to go to this school. She’s in 4th grade. She continues to attest that she “hates it here.” And that “the lunch is sooooo bad!” Just as I did a few years ago. But i know that she, along the many other students, while have fond memories of their elementary years. The only fault i can think of with this school is that the lunch is, as my sister constantly says, “soooooo bad”. The staff is very receptive and communicate well with parents, at least from my and my sister’s experience from this school. Great preparation for Middle School; I now attend an Advanced Middle School, where the curriculum is a year or two ahead of normal, and Southside prepared me perfectly for it. I recommend this school.
Wow ! My experience with Southside is a little bittersweet. Mateo got accepted in the middle of covid with the lottery program, however he will not be able to continue at Southside Elementary.
I am forever grateful for this school, for the teachers, and all the staff. It truly makes a difference when you have teachers that care.
Mateo started online school from home with Mrs. Gonzales, she is unbelievably amazing. She will take time to discuss about Mateo and was truly patient during the online term.
When Mateo went back to physical school he got a different teacher. Doctor Rohani is truly dedicated to her students and I love the classroom dynamic.
Mateo will be going to a new school next year but Southside will always be an amazing memory.
Education wise it’s a great school. Administration wise it’s horrible. Office staff is rude. Principal and vice principal are never around. The janitor is also a security guard and god forbid that someone directs parking and traffic. Everyone ignores the school zone and zooms by without a care, no cops ever around anyways. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the teachers are amazing and the school is pretty neat. My kid has been going here for 6 years and I’m so glad she’s going to a different school next year. And I don’t have to deal with public school nonsense anymore because she’s going to a private school!
