Excellent educational experience. But wish it wasn’t the only thing they value. These kids are pushed so hard and so much, my high schooler does homework 7 days a week from the moment and gets home from school till she goes to bed. Like it’s a full time job. No time for anything else. Not sure how some of these kids even do extracurriculars or have time for things like a job. Maybe if my kid wasn’t a straight A student who really takes pride in achieving excellence (partly from the push of the school, partly just her own drive) she’d have more time. But it is just a lot!
The schools push for college and to help ALL the students achieve going is wonderful. Their motto is “to and through college” starting in elementary school. But again, there needs to be more in life for these CHILDREN! Balance is important!
Most of the teachers and staff are great. Some a little pushy. Some don’t know what they seem to be doing. But the majority are wonderful.
This a review solely for the high school.

This is one of the best schools in Newark NJ and yeah, I say the state of New Jersey. It infuses culture, structure, and academic excellence. I know so many intelligent superstars who came from the school. I have watched the principal, teachers and coaches for years and they make me proud to say My kids go to North Star.

I am a parent who believes in results so I don’t want to talk about the commercial I want a return on investment because my kids are worth that and they deserve that. This school gives that. And I appreciate them for it. Here to reaching for the stars!!

Good school, and Teaches well, beware if you’re new though. They give out a lot of work. Especially if you’re in high school.

But doing a lot of work can be important depending on the career you want to go to and college, so fast-check your future career before coming here, or any NorthStar school I heard of.
