I have loved having my children attend this high school. It has a lot of extracurricular programs. My daughter loves their welding program. They offer several language programs and numerous scholarship opportunities. I especially LOVE the Air Force JROTC program where the teens can take classes on aviation science, leadership, etc., and even get their pilots license while learning self disciple, respect, service, responsibility, and impeccable grooming, all with high academic expectations (they can’t go on their amazing field trips if they don’t have good grades). They have a swimming pool on sight and offer every sport you can think of. Even though we’re moving in a few weeks to a new home, I’ve been so impressed with this school that we’ll be driving our 4 secondary school students an hour each way down to St George to stay at this school! That’s how impressed I am!!!
I went to the Dixie schools for only 8 months at most (end of 9th grade beginning of 10th) there are a few things I would say good about it. The amount of options for class are great. The cleanliness of the school is great. But that’s about it. Only a few teachers there were nice to EVERYONE and treated EVERYONE equally. Most of the teachers and kids are Pretentious and unless your doing a sport or the super smart kid this school doesn’t care about you. My counselor lied to me about online schooling options,The receptionist called me a liar, and when you talk to these people you just feel them judging you. The kids are the same way if you are not Mormon or Christian forget about having friends. This school just seems to have a majority of rude judgemental people. Reason I switched to online and dropping out then getting my ged instead of going all through high school.
Love this school!!! My parents both graduated there and I was honored to graduate there as well. GO FLYERS ’95!!! My favorites were Mr. Wally Mathis, my social studies teacher, who, by the way, also taught my mom and dad and would smack my desk with a four foot bamboo samurai training sword if I started to nod off in class; and Mr. Robert Crump, the funnest all be it uptight perfectionist band teacher who affectionately named me, the other Bari sax player, and the tuba player “The Bass Brothers” (LOVED that name!!!)
