My Daughter has attended Chasco Middle School since the 6th grade and she dearly loves it. Her teachers every year so far have been amazing. However, I tend to agree with the Comment from Luke Z below that state Mr. McCallum that he is very anti-social and creepy toward the kids and they do not like to be in his class at all. When they see him in the hallways they tend to run the other direction. I instructed my daughter to never judge a book by its cover until, one day my Husband and I were at the school for a function and she pointed him out to us and he was just as he described. We walked over to introduce ourselves and just as we started to speak he walked away. So yeah he is not very personable. You would think that when someone takes the time to become a teacher they would actually love the job. He may love his job but not who he is teaching. Maybe he should start with teaching mice or maybe stuffed animals. But overall Chasco Middle is a wonderful school with a staff in my eyes that really cares about their students not just a paycheck. Mostly since their paychecks go for supplies now a days. I meet with Alyssa’s teachers on a quarterly basis and they all seem to love her as much as she loves them. They are very quick to set up conferences and to reply to emails or phone calls. I highly recommend this school to all new student moving into the area as it has a wonderful curriculum and programs that meet the needs of children of all needs and challenges.
My daughter, Gwen, has attended the Pasco county school system since kindergarten, she is now finishing 6th grade. Her brother is finishing 8th grade and wanted a yearbook to commemorate his 3 years in middle school. The school was unable to spell my daughter’s 4 letter name correctly, and they have her in the yearbook as Qwen, which is not even grammatically correct in the English language as there is a Q but no u. Don’t these people proof read?? You have to wonder what kind of education your child is going to get at a school that can’t even spell the 4 letter name correctly of a child who has been in their system for 7 years. The principal’s response to this was that he couldn’t do anything about it. So much for building my daughter’s self esteem and confidence. But then, she’s not one of his favorites so I’m not surprised. As far as safety is concerned, this past Friday a student was pushed down the stairs by another student and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I would consider a different school for your child if you want them to be safe and have a quality education. Or go with home schooling, then they don’t have to have the principal yelling at them all day.
A really great school in my personal experience. I had tons of fun here, most the teachers are pretty chill, and even the ones who may come off rude still give you an education. When it comes to bullying it does happen, but if reported to the office they hold out a small ‘investigation’ like thing and get to the root of the problem and even helped a friend of mine who was being bullied online by students and got some of them to even be friends. I’m happy that I’m coming here again for 8th grade 😀
