We were so afraid that quarantining during COVID for several months had an adverse effect on our child and very intentionally sought out MSR when we were comfortable with in-person school again. My expectation was that Montessori would give us the best education after months of isolation from other children. Our son attended the back half of their summer school program and then began the regular school year in September 2020. Though we had a couple of meetings throughout the school year, there were no red flags raised and it seemed like he was thriving and happy. Despite a speech delay, MSR never shared anything alarming about our son. We had a nice rapport with the staff and it felt like they really cared. When he stopped napping in February, we were told that we would have to pick him up early (instead of 4p, his new pick up would be 11:30a which is impossible for a working parent). Almost out of nowhere shortly thereafter, we began getting reports that our son was aggressive, disruptive, and not interacting with materials appropriately. Either these behaviors developed out of nowhere or MSR decided to ignore them for months and kick him out when they couldn’t handle him anymore, which is a MASSIVE DISSERVICE TO A TWO YEAR OLD CHILD. We were pretty abruptly asked to leave and literally, as I was ushered out of the door with tears running down my face, I was told that I had support (from them). Fast forward six weeks and we have not even received a text message from the director or any of his teachers asking how he or we are doing. I am hurt and disappointed that MSR was not forthright about my child’s development, were hesitant to implement new disciplinary techniques to handle his challenges, and most of all, I feel that their loving aura was fake.
My daughter went to the MSR for several years. We had multiple issues before finally withdrawing from their daycare. From financial issues (which resulted in their head of school resigning) “forgetting” to call our daughter for activities, and canceling school and stating that “our contract doesn’t specify that school will be in person”.

While MSR does offer great classes and educational opportunities for kids, we had several instances where our daughter was “forgotten” for the classes. When I called to ask if she was included, they promised to get back to me. After following up several times they informed me that they “forgot” to include my daughter in the group and that I don’t understand how busy they are…

After choosing to remain closed for the semester, MSR refused to return tuition. They stated that their contract does not state how many classes will be included in the school year (the school calendar is not part of the contract).

Overall, their staff is incredibly unresponsive and inconsiderate to their parents. We had one specific incident where our daughter came home with a significant bite mark that I did not notice until bedtime. Whenever I asked my daughter about it she informed me that another student at school bit her. I followed up with the school and was informed that “oh, we meant to tell you but we have been really busy”.

Don’t even waste your time and application fee here. Their attitude was completely different after they have collected the application fee from you at the first place. After we have paid the application fee and nobody responded on our emails since then despite that they are so proactive before. After a year waiting, we were informed they refused enrollment of my kid due to the lack of community space. I believe they are trying to collect application fee as much as possible from the parents and of course they will prioritize the kids who can bring they more money like participating the after school program. I am also glad my kid doesn’t get enrolled in such school that cares only for money and not your kid. Their lack of integrity makes me wonder if they can really bring the sense of personal responsibility to the kid as they advocate.
