This school lacks diversity, inclusiveness, ethics and the willingness to provide a safe environment for all students. There isn’t any racial diversity among the administrative leadership, so they aren’t able to bring diverse perspectives to problem solving.

Our experience at this school was absolutely horrible! We met with and emailed the school several times to resolve an issue where our child was being bullied and racially attacked but the school made little attempt to resolve the issue.

I have spoken with several parents who had a similar experience. Our children are now traumatized by the lack of attention to bullying, threats and racial slurs that occur in this school. Like the other parents we had to remove our child from the school because she no longer felt safe.

In our current climate school bullying can not be taken lightly because it has often resulted in tragedy. No parent wants to hear that something of this nature has occurred at their child’s school. We can’t ignore how bullying has impacted schools locally and around the world.

My experience at PSPA has been a rewarding one. As a parent of two children, I chose this school based solely on the curriculum. Having experienced constantly changing curriculum at County schools, it was wonderful to see a commitment made at PSPA, to one curriculum in particular. I reasearched Core Knowledge extensively before enrolling my kids. I was very impressed with it and knew right away that PSPA was going to be a great choice for my family. When I talk about our school to others, it is always the curriculum that I come back to. It truly is what sets our school apart – I think. My children have thrived at PSPA and love to share the amazing things they learn. Mesopotamia in 1st grade? Ancient religions in 2nd grade? And these are just the highlights according to my 8 year old. She has discovered a love of ancient civilizations, something my 12 year old had never even heard of after 6 years in County schools. PSPA and it’s amazing team of teachers has been a blessing for our family. We could not be happier!
This school allows bullying among staff members and among students without addressing any of it. I have had two different family members relentlessly harassed at both the middle and elementary school, under the leadership of Bruce Friend, who adopts a “sweep it under the rug” mentality, specifically when someone is bullied to the point of wanting to commit suicide. Please protect your children. Pine springs is an absolute danger to mental health in general, and is not worth the risk of a damaged child. Furthermore, the work culture is absolutely horrendous. There is a high turnover rate and current talks of lawsuits in the works by former parents of children not receiving proper IEP accommodations. Bruce Friend, the Head Of School, should be absolutely ashamed of the way this place is running. Again, I urge you, PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS.
