My daughter has been going to this school since she was 3 years old (she started in pre-school) and is now in 3rd grade. Additionally, our son has attended pre-school from age 5 at McDowell and now is in Kindergarten. This is an incredible school that is focused on high-quality, individual success! I am totally confident that once my kids are done with McDowell, that they will have become the absolute best version of themselves. We are surrounded by larger private schools and public schools in the area. Knowing what we know, the community and family feeling, coupled with the individualized learning for each child, is something that is unique to McDowell. I am happy to be a part of the McDowell family of parents and teachers and I know that my kids confidence, independence, and intelligence are in large part due to the school’s philosophies on learning and the caring culture.
As a parent with an infant, I cannot recommend McDowell School enough! Their infant program is amazing. The teachers and the administrators are top-notch. I started my son in the infant room when he was 3 months old and by the time he was a year he was social, walking, talking (words here and there), and had the opportunity to experience arts, music, and lots of attention when I had to work, which was a great relief. As a very overprotective first-time mom, McDowell school was one of the only places I felt like he was getting care just as good as the care I gave him at home.
An exceptional school which focuses on a great, expanded scholastic program that will push your child well past the requirements of the state for each grade level. The facility is small, but that’s part of its charm – the teachers are involved with every grade, and the students really interact with each other. I do wish the field was bigger, but with county soccer and baseball teams, we make up that excercise in other ways. Our family has been there for 2.5 years. Classe size – under 15. A great school, highly recommended.
