They told me and my daughter that we could not get our hair done at 5:45, because of our Black hair, ethnic hair. The receptionist stated we could not tell who you were over the phone. Black hair,c ethnic hair can take three hours to do! Theresa the Manager asked if I had thick, curly, ethnic hair. When I said yes after calling back to complain, she confirmed the choice. They close at 8pm!! I told her they could be sued for racial bias. She hung the phone up on me!!. They could have serviced up in some capacity in two hours. We wanted wash and blow-dry and flat irons. We had been there before and still had our straight from the last visit. We had 5:30 appts and were late due to traffic. I called and they said come on, you are 10 minutes away. I took off work to pamper myself and instead was racially profiled. They should have offered some service to me and my daughter. My four year old daughter was visibly upset, she too had been looking forward to getting her hair done. Our hair was not coming out of braids and two hours is reasonable time to service a wash and blow-dry. But to hang up the phone and give reason for not servicing us because of our “ethnic” hair, “black” hair is out right bias and easy cause for a civil rights law suit. They are doing a disservice to students and enhancing racial bias. I have never dealt with such overt racial bias before!!! I went home and video taped doing my hair and it took less than two hours even with intricately curling my hair. I hope the owner listens to the message where the Manager hangs up on me. I called back and stated I wanted an apology and gratis service for the disrespectful and racially offensive handling of the situation and never heard back. Now seeking an attorney.
Most of the time I have had decent cuts here but today was one out of two times I have received a bad cut here. Sadly both of these times were not because of the student but because of a particular instructor. I realize these are students and I am ok with that. Both times I have received a bad cut was because the student needed more guidance and in both instances this particular instructor took over and the student disappeared. This particular instructor kind of butchered my hair again today. I specifically told her to not cut my bangs too short and to not cut them above my eyebrows. Well she did exactly what I told her not to do and she more or less cut my bangs straight across instead of blending them in. My bangs look like a bad cut by my Mom when I was in 1st grade. To make matters worse the instructor kept insisting that she did not cut my bangs too short. Now I will have to be reminded of my first grade bangs every time I look in the mirror for the next 4-6 weeks.
Went to see if I could get a haircut and possibly some highlights. The stylist did 2 test pieces because I had old hair color to see if they could lift the red. It didn’t and was told to go to a “normal ” salon for the highlights. She cut my hair a little to short after telling her I had natural wavy curly hair. I have to say she’s a student and is still training. She was very pleasant and really took her time. I would go back again because the prices are great.
