My experience with this school has been mixed. My kid struggled at first but it was the administration and teachers here that helped him with his transition into this school. Now he has excelled in his education and is challenged just enough to push him to his potential but not so much that he can’t enjoy life. Kids will learn and retain more when they do it at there will. We have been to two other schools both private, this school has been the best for us. I stated by saying my experience was mixed but gave five stars. I actually was going to give four because it’s still a Clark County district school and I’m not fond of the school district but my kid saw four stars and asked why I wasn’t giving them five. He doesn’t always wake me up and say “get up I don’t want to be late for school “ but he likes this school, the teachers and staff. This school has earned all 5 stars and we have been here long enough to give them. Those who started and stayed for only a short time and quit did not do their due diligence to give an accurate assessment even if they are convinced of there feelings. We struggled in the beginning but it was our son that had some issues not the school so we sat down with the principal and made her aware of our situation so they could address the issue on there side while we did our part at home. Guess what, together we squashed the problem. I never got that kind of care and cooperation from any other school no mater how much we paid them.
The school is great if your kid is in elementary but once in secondary its a whole different story. The Superintendent does not like to be questioned. Her answer to everything is “If you don’t like it just leave. Its a school of choice after all.” There is little to no communication on any topic. They are completely disorganized and secretive. We have already move one of our children to a different school because of this administration and the only reason our other child is still there is because they are a senior and wanted to be with their friends for their last year. However the Seniors are constantly under threat to have their graduation taken away if they don’t go above and beyond what is expected of a regular student. The administration claims they have no oversight from CCSD so what they say goes. Don’t send your child here.
I used to attend EKA, and I just wanna admit that the teachers are great(i’ve had some problems with some but not all), but my parents and I (plus some of my peers) always had some problems with some of the administrators. They were always rude and difficult to deal with. The bullying at this school is bad too. Mainly because high school and middle school is mixed. Plus the rules are very tight, like the dress code, behavior, and grades. Yeah it’s cool that you get to go into some classes that are ahead of your skill level, but their is just so much work and pressure getting put on the students from projects every 5 seconds, and even 3 pieces of homework from one class a night. All and all a terrible school for students and parents.
