It would be irresponsible of me if I did not sit down to take the time to write a review for the Candil Hall Early Childhood Education School located on Rainbow and W. Ann in North West Las Vegas.
My wife found Candil Hall after an exhausting search for placement of our two adopted children. We learned how lucky and blessed we were soon after the kids began attending school there. My wife generally dropped off the kids and I would pick them up when I was through teaching.
Beverly handled all the details of “school business” and the only thing I knew was picking up two very happy kids each day. I was on a “hi, how are you” no-name basis with everyone (ok, you got me, I was a very typical dad). I was; however, impressed with the friendliness of everyone, especially the classroom teachers for my kids. And, yes, I said teachers. These folks are not day-care workers, they are teachers. I did not really know how extraordinary the school was until the next chapter of my life began on January 2, 2015.
That’s when Beverly was diagnosed with stage four cancer and subsequently succumbed to her illness seven months later. That school reached out to me and the children in ways that can only be described as “as a family would”. I was overwhelmed with the love and support of, not just the teachers and administrators of the school, but the entire school community including parents other teachers and all of the administration.
I have tears in my eyes when I write this. My overwhelming grief of losing my wife after almost 30 years of marriage became more poignant realizing that I would be a senior dad raising two children by myself. Well guess what, all the folks at Candil Hall stepped up to the plate and became the rock that held me together for the past year.
Keep in mind that the kids were already enrolled for a year before this event, and they had already embraced them in ways that a parent could only dream of. The learning environment is really beyond reproach; it’s learning, it’s discipline, it’s values and integrity; it’s educational! The three-ring binder my then 2 year old brought home at the end of the year was so impressive, I brought it to the school where I teach high school and showed it around. Even the old dinosaurs in my school were impressed.
I do not think that my situation is unique at Candil Hall, I believe that the cultural of the school is to take care of the families of the students with the same caring, concern and focus on education as they do with the children. As an educator and father, I am a better person and my children are happier because of their experience with Candil Hall.
We were really excited about this school until we tried to contact them. My wife and i went into the school had a tour, and liked it. They told us that they would contact us about open houses so that we could come for additional information. Our contact info was collected and then we waited. No responses. I tried to email them, and nothing. I emailed them 4 times over 3 months period, and i only received the auto reply which has misspellings in it. Well i finally called just to find out that we had missed all the open houses. Looks like we will find another school. If the school staff cannot reply to me, or spell words correctly, it makes me question their ability to teach my children.
I love this school! This family is very dedicated to every child and their success. I am so glad my granddaughters are there. I have been an educator for over 23 years and the curriculum is excellent!
