We chose to forgive and forget even though she never apologized to me or my child. Then it happened again. My child was being bullied by some older girls and again, I dont think she has the skill, personality or ethic to be a principal, she didnt know how to address the situation and the bullying wasnt stopping. I did take the liberty to ask the kids nicely to be nice to my child. If the principal had to talk to me about a policy I understand, however she doesnt know how to talk, she yelled and screamed at me AGAIN! This led me to believe that this is who she really is and the previous incident was not a one time incident that she snapped. I have NEVER had anyone yell at me the way she did! In my opinion she has no business being around children! She becomes a very scary person and has no control over herself! Not professional at all for a principal!
I would never recommend this school as long as shes there! I noticed a parent write in their review theres no bullying in this school I would say to this parent that they are so lucky their children havent experienced what my child had to go through. My child didnt just get bullied by other girls that have bullied other students as well and the bullying hasnt been taken care of but my child and I were bullied by the principal herself!
Save your money and go to a good charter school, the one across the street is amazing! I know for a fact that the principal at the charter school across the street really cares for the children and will NEVER behave in such a horrible way! That charter school also offers great classes that this private school doesnt.
Every person I tell this story to agrees with one thing, she has no business being around children since she snaps easily and cant control herself.
Our children have had an outstanding experience at Ivy Hall. The school has provided experiences that just arent available at other schools in the area. The class sizes are small and allow for an education that is tailored for the individual while emphasizing working as part of a group. Areas of study are included that do not get much attention at other schools simply because the efficiency of a smaller class allows for more time to actually learn and cover more. At the same time, most schoolwork is accomplished at school leaving our children free to pursue activities on their own or as a family when they get home rather than hours of homework. Additionally, Ivy Hall is a safe place. Bullying doesnt seem to be a problem. Our kids are happy to go to school.
Values of personal responsibility and leadership are emphasized and interwoven in the curriculum. The environment is very caring and we feel like our children are nurtured as individuals. The teachers have been fantastic. We are very grateful their dedication and for the hours spent in preparation to teach. The teachers are largely responsive to any concerns we have and there is open communication back and forth between the teachers and parents either by text, email, phone calls, and visits as needed. The one exception to the quality of teachers we expect at Ivy Hall came during our daughters education and didnt stay beyond the teachers first year. The school administration is very conscientious about evaluating their teaching staff, helping their teachers excel, and, rarely, replacing them if needed.
The school staff goes out of their way to involve families in the education process. Cultural experiences and learning beyond the classroom are part the Ivy Hall experience as well.
Overall, Ivy Hall has been perfect for our family and our goals.
