My son is a very happy, smart and loving little boy full of wonder and excitement for the world. He has struggled since the beginning of preschool in August of last year where the school calls his communication issues and minor outbursts behavioral issues. We worked all the time with his teachers, and even moved him to a smaller classroom in the beginning of December 2023.
Ever since providing our locations director the signed letter from our pediatrician with the initial ASD diagnosis in January 2024 which advised our son receive services such as an IEP/504 in order to succeed in this program, we have been blindsided by being disenrolled in the program due to other parents complaints. We have done everything to get my child’s therapy started, and before he can even get a chance to start, we are kicked out. Because this program is a private company, they told us they can choose who they want to be there and because of set policy, Logan is being dis-enrolled. Even though the state provides resources for private schools, they refuse to help kids with disabilities- they’d rather send them way and not deal.
The lack of empathy, sympathy and the way we were treated in the meeting by the Executive Director of Superior School was unacceptable and should not be tolerated. We have done all we can do at this point for my son and will continue to find all available resources for his success, but the way he was being labeled as a behavioral problem, violent and aggressive are not words to describe children with autism. We want to see the system change and will continue to fight for the rights of children with disabilities.
Thank goodness for Miss Christine (his last teacher), she was our saving grace and had so much patience with our son. He misses her, and is now very confused and is regressing because of this change in his routine. They only want perfect children and allow parents to bully and target you for things they know nothing about, nor understand. In conclusion, I do not recommend this program. It does not guarantee your spot in Plato Academy, so don’t bother.
***Also adding their turnover is outrageous, and people they hire aren’t always trustworthy – some being arrested for things inside and outside of the school.***
They prove themselves knowledgeable and well rounded.
The curriculum is designed to improve and promote each student self awareness while focussing on their unique growth and talents.
The environment is nurturing, yet it provides the needed independence for teenagers to develop mentally, physically, and academically .
