The kids from this school are very relaxed, non-judgemental and happy to express themselves in many creative ways. It seems to be a very inclusive and harmonious school that accepts kids from all walks of life. The staff must be doing a good job to promote this kind of vibe.
A fantastic school. I graduated in 2008 after transferring from my local public school in 2006 (despite needing to travel over an hour and half each day).

While the overt emphasis appeared to be on arts and humanities, I can say that the maths and science subjects were of a great standard….far better than my previous public school. The electives available were also great such as philosophy etc.

Wednesdays off were an amazing idea. Great for catching up on assignments or in my case studying extra electives via distance education.

The teachers were super respectful to students, and students respected them in turn. There was comraderie between teachers and students. Bullying was non-existen and everyone mixed with everyone else regardless of sub cultures or class. The students were much more mature, tolerant and open minded.

I would say I was a moderate high achiever l, but with very little drive for study ar exam prep. This school prepared me well, and my results were comparable to that of my many private or selective school friends….who I took to be brighter with a better work ethic

And thanks for the free dress policy!

I wish there were more schools like this.

AMAZING SCHOOl, i’ve never actually been but i have to give it a 5 star review due to what ive heard, also due to RM, KR and many other of my favourite people in the whole wide world going to this school, if i could still enrol i would love to go just to see my old love.
From the Duke R xD
Excellent school, that does particularly well at catering for kids who are neurodivergent, queer, have mental health issues or anyone for whom larger, more mainstream settings do not work. My child has just finished a 3-year VCE here (this is another plus – they encourage this option for kids who struggle with overload and it’s SUCH a good idea – should be commonplace in ALL secondary schools IMO) and I doubt my kid would have finished school at all in a standard setting, due to the structures and system being often non-inclusive for many teens. They have now been accepted into uni to study the career of their dreams 🙂 I can’t recommend SSC highly enough.
Please think carefully before sending your teenager here. Unfortunately this school has a well-established history of not adequately following duty-of-care laws to make sure students are kept safe. Multiple stories have emerged from past students of times when the school had disregarded the safety of students in order to preserve their “cool among the kids” image. They offer alternative schooling with no adequate framework for how to conduct this. This often leaves vulnerable and neurodivergent young people in unsafe positions.
