My children have attended here for 3 years. We enrolled because this school had the strictest protocols and infection control in Corona situation. The ordered acrylic boards, mandatory wearing of masks, no sharing of toys, keeping 6 feet distance, and following guidelines in case of a thick contact or infected person were perfect.
Thanks to this, there were very few cases of infected people at this school that spread. I am very grateful. And finally all restrictions were recently lifted.
Also, this school is very academic and everyone studies hard. I am Japanese, but they teach our kiddos how to write the alphabet, count numbers, and write my name neatly every day that they can now write properly even though I have never taught it at home.
After 2 years of attending the school, my older daughter started to speak English fluently, and her reading level was above the intermediate level on the California Common Achievement Test.
There are many enthusiastic students so there is a lot of stimulation every day.
The preschool does not have an entrance exam, but if your child starts from Kinder, he or she must pass a test.
It is also very helpful for parents that they serve snacks in the morning and evening.
This school opens from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Andrea, the receptionist, was very friendly and greeted us every morning, remembering all the children’s and parents’ faces. Now the receptionist is different, but she is friendly and has a nice smile on her face. No one looks like they are working slowly.
The schoolyard is small, but there is a schoolyard, and they take turns to play outside during break time.
The younger children love to play in the big sandbox every day.
My older daughter is in Elementary, but it is a small group, so all of his classmates are like family.
There are many events, field trips to zoomi zoomi, pumpkin patch, and the older kids went to Scooter Jungle and Knott’s Berry Farm.
The daycare is open for spring break and summer and winter break as well, so there are few days off! Best!
I can’t speak any more highly of the school. They stress education, social skills and have helped teach my boys to be polite and considerate people. My oldest is now striving in middle school because of the education that he received at Hickory Tree.
Most importantly the staff are like family. They truly care about their students and go above and beyond for their children. All the staff gets to know the children whether they are in their class or not which makes for a very close and family environment. This is evident in the amount of past students and their parents who come back to visit the teachers. When my son graduates in June we will be one of those families to come back and visit our Hickory Tree family.
