To say this school was a disappointment, is an understatement. They lack integrity, communication skills and teaching capabilities. The best part of this school is their DE class however it is way overpriced at $10000. I would not recommend this school to anyone unfortunately as their ideology is awesome, however it fails massively by the people who are supposed to implement it.
What an impressive school! My daughter has been going here for two years now. Mainstream school got her lost in the system and she averaged Ds on her report card. Now she’s thriving with Bs and Cs. She’s even got some As! 18 kids per class, so they aren’t crammed in and the advisors (teachers) can actually help them much easier. They also care about the kids. I actually got a call from her advisor informing me that she had a brilliant day and worked so efficiently.

They do have assessments and tasks they have to do each term, it’s done in school time. If the kids don’t finish them on time at school, then they have to finish them at home. Much less stress.

Beautiful environment with heaps of nature and they have the most amazing incursions/excursions. The whole year level did for fire twirling for a term and then all the kids got to show off their skills at one of the solstice festivals! Amazing experience for the kids!!

For more opportunities the 10-12 year levels campus is now at Robina. Giving them access to real world experiences.

My Son attended Silkwood part of year 6 and 3 terms of year 7. He went from average grades to D’s and E’s. He was diagnosed with ADHD whilst enrolled at Silkwood and I found the support plans fell short of meeting his needs and were more copy and paste.

He was moved to a LEAD advisory which I expressed concerns about however this became not an option and was forced upon us. As I expected, my Sons engagement at school further declined. We were then forced into distance education via Silkwood which is painted with another name to make it sound supportive but once again my concerns about my Son doing this were not taken into consideration and saw him completely disengage from his learning. The school (including the Principal who I personally emailed) didn’t care or even acknowledge my concerns that I was a single parent who worked and wouldn’t be able to provide adequate supervision or support for my son.

My Son is now back in a mainstream public school and doing much better. He is catching up on learning lost at Silkwood and his grades are already reflecting a more supportive, structured education from a school who does work collaboratively with Families to ensure best outcomes for students.

i attended this school from 18 months old for the playgroup up until year 3
my mum had me set on this school as a different approach to the schooling system, and at the beginning it was a great school, but then it changed and became mainstream, which is why we moved. i wasn’t being challenged enough in class, and the teachers just didn’t care about you. i also had a heap of friendship dramas, the teachers didn’t care enough to help you through it.
i don’t know why this school was rated 4.9 stars, it should be 1 star.
Silkwood is an amazing school! My son absolutely loves it and we are so impressed with the school. The curriculum is set up for success and the kids get to determine their learning through personal interest projects. Everyone we have interacted with (advisors, admin, tech, etc) have gone above and beyond and are incredibly friendly. We highly recommend Silkwood School.
