I was a student here not long ago. this is a throwaway account with a fake name so they dont cause trouble for my sibling who still attends (if they even see this). Staff are horrible at dealing with situations in the school, they have a no tolerance fighting rule which is understandable, but if someone initiates a fight with you you arent even allowed to defend yourself or else you will get equal punishment as the person who started it(not punching back, just pushes even count as fighting back). if its more minor they will make you two sit in a room with each other, ask a question or two and tell you both to apologize to each other without getting to the root of the problem, and forcing teens to give fake apologies to each other when both of them know its fake will just increase frustration and decrease moral in the students, causing everyone to be irritable.on top of them not dealing with issues properly, they have backwards thinking.
During one of my classes i was sitting at the back by myself because i was assigned to do some makeup work that i didn’t turn in. Unbeknownst to me some of the other students took pictures of me and posted it on snapchat and other places with captions implying that i was a school shooter only because i was wearing a black hoodie, skinny white kid, and being quiet at the back of class, only reason i found out was because a friend of mine brought it to my attention, i said i didn’t really care much when they presented it to me but that night i couldnt sleep and around 4am i emailed one of my teachers in tears telling them that i cant believe someone would think id do such a horrible thing, when i went to go in the next school day i was informed that i was suspended for 3 days because of it? and i was messaging my friends about it and supposedly the person spreading that img of me only got a slap on the wrist and was told to remove the image off social media. This is where i think they have backwards logic, they punished me for coming to them for help, and that type of treatment is what causes students to not want to ask for help from faculty even if its really hurting them, and treating students like that is what causes school shooters because it causes resentment towards the school in the students who have gone through that and have been unfairly treated and is a serious issue
I was super excited when my son got accepted into Henry Ford Academy thinking that this would help him achieve what he needed to in life by going to a better school than the public schools.
The principal Mrs. Christmas has to be the worst educator that I have ever come in contact with. She will disregard and disrespect any parent that has a different opinion than her own.
The teachers are not willing to give extra help to students that don’t understand the curriculum.
Please don’t send your children here if you want them to get a good education. This school is bottom of the barrel. Its sad for the students.
If you love your child please don’t send them to this school. If your child plays sports then don’t send your child here. As hard as I hate saying it I should of left my child in the Dearborn Public School system. Thumbs down for y’all.
