Excellent school, one that teaches the true value of hard work.

Excellent sporting performance in football, swimming and tennis during my time. Very decent for Rugby, we may not lead the table but we gave Australia Michael Hooper!

Some distinguishing features…

– Genuinely caring and invested principal and teachers, many courses were University grade.
– Very uncompromising attitude to bullying, with anonymous surveys to out offenders, and mediation between bully and victim to resolve the issue.
– Particularly good art and music departments run by real virtuosos.
– The best tuck shop pork ribs money can buy.
– Compulsory 120 hrs volunteering in several years, great program.
– Fantastic grounds at Oxford Falls.
– Strong focus on liturgy with weekly Mass, these Pious Boys can sing!

Some tips…. (Class of 2013, a lot may have changed)

– Extend the anonymous reviews to teaching assessment. This is standard at universities, and will really help to lift performance when needed. It would also have helped to have record classes for revision, but I’m sure COVID changed this
– Open the cricket cages and gyms at recess and lunchtime. There isn’t a blade of grass on the main campus, so this will give the boys an outlet.
– Maybe trial vertical homerooms for the boys to make connections outside of their year group/sport.
– Give the detention boys the option to watch the Friday debates instead of the clock. We love an audience!

I attended the Open Day 2022.

It was very well organised and gave us a great overview of the school. There was music, a sausage sizzle and coffee cart, an address from the Principal, Q&A session with boys from a range of years, and tours of the school. The highlight was definitely the tour itself, which was conducted by two very articulate and informative students (from Years 5 and 8). It gave us the chance to see all parts of the school and to ask our guides what the school is like from their perspective.

For its location, the school is surprisingly large, with a sizeable campus and large playground (see picture). Furthermore, many of the classrooms are modern and new, with sections of the school having been recently renovated. The location of the Chatswood campus so close to the Chatswood bus and train stations makes it extremely convenient.

When the Oxford Falls campus is included, the facilities available to the boys are good.

The teachers and students presented the academic and sporting prowess of the school in a very positive light. Also, importantly, they demonstrated the good nature and character of the school through the way that they conducted themselves.

upon entry you are immediately greeted by various trophies, great tactic for intimidation
Not bad school. Went here for debating. Great snacks and food and friendly people who were easy to talk to. From reviews it seems like an “interesting” place to be. Coming from an outsider POV, I’d say the place was neat and well organised.
Went to the open day, the students were very well presented and polite. A student saw we lost with our guide and volunteered to introduce us around the school.
