I remember I had attended this school for only one year, it was my 4th grade year. At least from the time I was there, it was not the best experience. Education and teachers were fine, but this was the only year where I had actually gotten bullied over a misunderstanding to the staff and students of what occurred due to a ghost game my after-care class had created and my cousin, who was in 2nd grade I believe, saw my “friend” play it and asked about it, which I asked said friend if we can tell and she said yes, then my cousin spreading this game across the school. When people wanted to know who started this, the friend blamed me for all of it and I was too chicken to argue back. Not only that, but the same kids in my aftercare class played the game and had asked the ghost to kill me, which the answer to the game said yes. Let’s just say I had a creepy experience after that happened. And while all this was happening, the teachers didn’t really do much, even when the kids were literally on the computers playing online Ouija Board games.
Teachers can be nice and supportive, but I do think the staff can also be a bit naive or ignorant when kids do stuff like this because I had to deal with my “friend” sending 5th graders after me since they wanted to beat me up due to the first graders playing this ghost game.
Who knows, this was a long while ago, but it doesn’t change my experience at this school at all. It can be educational, but the students can be brutal and teachers either don’t notice or let it slide usually, I don’t know.
At the beginning, I enjoyed this school. The teachers were super nice and caring. But as I got older, it worsened. I got mean teachers that hated us, and I was bullied by my classmates because I always got good grades and they didn’t like it. They talked bad about me behind my back, and I was even hated by people from other classes! One bully was a best friend, and I was miserable. The teachers I had made it even harder to get through 4th and 5th grade (I got the same teachers for two years.) I once got scolded for crying in class because it was a “disruption.” The teachers also gave way too much homework and they thought we could handle it. Now, I realize that my experience there scarred me. I have social anxiety and I can’t trust people much because of my experience. I am giving this school one star because while it educates well, it’s confidence-wrecking and isn’t the best for developing your mental health as you grow older.
Upon reading some of these reviews I felt compelled to respond. HGE was and is such a wonderful nurturing school. The teachers and staff are very emotionally supportive. I am sorry that certain past students had a bad experience but they must be isolated incidents that happened years ago. My sister goes to HGE now and loves it. My mother feels free to speak to the principal any time and says she is very very approachable. I’m a sophmore now and I love seeing how my sister loves going to school each. HGE is a big family and a school where EVERYONE is accepted. If you had a bad experience I am sorry but HGE Is amazing!!!
