First, the good, for this particular area the school is very good. The choices aren’t too many and this school offers what normally would not be available to trying parents who want better for their kids. The curriculum is rigorous so expect to work hard.
Teachers; there are some excellent teachers, math, geometry, science teachers in middle school are excellent.
The headmaster runs a tight ship and discipline is enforced, so you are unlikely to see the shenanigans you see elsewhere. In these areas the school gets top marks.
Now the bad and not so good.
Back to teachers, in the elementary school they hire anyone . Even those with no educational background. If you go to the same Church , well there’s a spot for you. In other words nepotism runs riot.
There is another problem which is more insidious that upsets me to no end. Let me clear, they are NOT bigots, but the lack of a diverse educational experience leads them to be extremely close minded and cautious in regards to other communities, or respecting other religions ,other accents, other cultures etc. Again this is mostly in the elementary school. I have heard teachers disparage students who struggle to speak English or grasp the content or are of a different religion, some teachers and staff don’t pronounce names correctly, and when corrected nonchalantly claim they’re too hard to pronounce.
Acceptable perhaps in Walmart but NOT in a school. You take the time to learn the name and pronounce it correctly. Remember the area , this is majority minority so get with the program.
Lastly , the school peddles Christianity insidiously, students study “Stories from the Bible” etc under the guise of “English comprehension” or “English grammar”
Students are encouraged to bring their Bibles.Well if you’re not Christian , tough luck.
The school needs to be issued a stern warning, public funds supports this school, they cant be peddling religion.
There are non Christian students and they most definitely DON’T want Christianity thrust on them.
