My kids went to online school through TOPS for 5th grade and 10th grade during the pandemic/social distancing time. Theyre now back in regular public schools and were on track/didnt fall behind in their studies. Its a great school system and they have a challenging/engaging curriculum. The only thing I think they could improve on is adding more Gifted/Talented meeting times and more activities for those students in elementary. The high school program should add more social activities for kids now that there isnt as much of a need to practice isolation/social distancing. They may have already done that in the past year. The online high school program prepared my oldest child well for college and his classes that are now somewhat of a hybrid of meeting in class and online / submitting work through an online portal. Im glad that I enrolled my kids in TOPS.
Run, run, run! Very little direction, unorganized and our home room teacher (although very friendly) provided inaccurate information and as a result, when my daughter transferred back into the public school system, she took two courses for an entire semester and received NO CREDIT. Very poor communication and untimely with getting back to you on questions (unless you are a new enrollment). I’ve left multiple messages in an attempt to resolve issues and the only way to get through to a person is to pretend you are a new enrollment. There are much better home school online options out there. An absolute disappointment.
Being apart of the k12 family is a unique and privilege experience not only did it help our son to excel in all subjects but it has also been a learning experience for me and my husband when we first started 3 years ago I wasnt so sure I would be what my son needed as a learning coach but I learned just as much as our son did the information that parents need is available to be a very successful learning coach I wouldnt do anything different k12 has turned out to be part of our everyday life thanks k12
