I cannot stress the importance of a good daycare for your precious little babes. I interviewed many in the Johnston location and none were as perfect as New Era Enrichment was. I walked in and the first thing I notice is the smell of bleach…”was this place is clean!” was my reaction in my head. They have one star right there. As I walked into the infant room I got handed a schedule they start in this room, YES! You understood that correctly! Schedule for an infant classroom! This has been what I was dreaming of since I had my son (first time parents over here), I was determined that this was exactly what I needed to get my son on some kind of normal life schedule. I started from the day I brought that home and it was the best thing that could have happened to us. Also, the guidance from all of the staff made it that much more easier. As we all know first time parenting is no walk in the park. This was star number two for them. Star number three came when we continued our tour and seeing all the Spanish and English posters and hearing the teachers speak Spanish and English to the kids. Knowing that the teachers are putting an effort into making every child be a little bi-lingual and getting them to use their brains proved to me that this daycare really did care about every single child and their growth and development. I will give another two starts for how the staff treats the parents and the kids. It is not only a daycare but a big family. My son had a febrile seizure a year ago and I had stayed home with him for two weeks after because I was afraid of leaving him…. the teachers and staff could not have been more supportive in answering every phone call during the day that I made just to check on him along with any funny story of something he had done that day just to show me that he is happy and safe and continuing his days at school like nothing happened. I can’t say enough amazing things about this daycare and I would never have any of my children go anywhere else. Even while we are planning moving to a new house, I am picking locations based around this daycare because I cannot imagine having my kids go somewhere else.
First and foremost, let me just say that child care research is one of the many items on the long list and expecting parents fail to give attention to it and find themselves on a waiting list or out of luck. And to boot, it’s a cumbersome search as most facilities do not have much of a digital presence which is how most parents knowledge share and research these days.

I was lucky enough to hear about New Era Enrichment Academy by word of mouth from another mom. It is tucked away on the Johnston/Smithfield line behind some residential homes, small parking area but clearly the Gen X parents have Tetris experience with their cars during drop off and pick up.

My daughter has been there since she was 3 months old and I can’t say enough how impressed I was from day one. As a first time mom spending every moment with my baby from birth, it was emotional to have to part ways and return back to work. I cried all the way to NEEA and then all the way to work, but NEEA staff encouraged me to call as many times as I needed to help me with this transition (for me of course). The staff are all pleasant and it’s very “all hands on deck” ensuring that children and the classrooms get the appropriate coverage.

The highlight is that your child learns English and Spanish – this dual language program is so important in the development of our children today. They have a fantastic curriculum involving play, vital development in a variety of areas as well as encouragement of creativity. My daughter loves going to daycare and the feeling is mutual as she is well received there as well!

I can’t believe that this dream learning center exists in Rhode Island. I searched far and wide for a dual language program to ensure my child kept pace with her peers in the Boston and NY metro areas. What I found was this wonderful center that surpassed any other I explored in terms of curriculum and early learning. Not only does my child speak two languages, but she’s following a rigorous curriculum (that she thinks is fun) and is being prepared for kindergarten. Just this week she learned the geography of South America and she pointed out details on the Dominican Republic flag. Last week she recognized Bolivia in a book and used scissors. She’s 2.

We love to see her run to hug her teachers (who are top notch educators not “child care workers.” (We’ve seen the center’s very thorough teacher vetting process and we are thrilled). The staff communicate daily – and everyone in the building knows who my child is (and we) are. My daughter thinks she’s a celebrity when she arrives. :-).

I love the focus on learning and the ever learning present tone of safety and professionalism. When I visited I was sold when I saw the administrators outside running a safety drill. They are proactive, always aware – and I feel like my child is with family.

I’m so lucky that someone recommended this hidden gem. I don’t worry about preschool or two- three day programs as we get everything at New Era (even gymnastics).

I can’t say enough that’s positive about this place. If you want top notch learning that’s better than your district or nearby center, certainly go here.
